Aquaplaning occurs when a layer of water forms between the surface of car tyres and the road surface, breaking the contact between tyres and the road.
The aquaplaning causes loss of wheel adherence, and results in a reduced vehicle control capability. One of the main reasons for securing the drainage of rainwater from the road surface and to increase traffic safety is to avoid the effect of aquaplanning.
